How can you identify a scam?

  1. it seems too good to be true – for example, a holiday that’s much cheaper than you’d expect.
  2. someone you don’t know contacts you unexpectedly.
  3. you suspect you’re not dealing with a real company – for example, if there’s no postal address.
  4. you’ve been asked to transfer money quickly.

Can you get your money back after a scam?

If you’ve bought something from a scammer If you’ve paid for something you haven’t received, you might be able to get your money back. Your card provider can ask the seller’s bank to refund the money. This is known as the ‘chargeback scheme’. If you paid by debit card, you can use chargeback however much you paid.
