What is Grid fleece?
What is Grid fleece?
A grid fleece is somewhat newer versus the standard fleece. A grid pattern with elastane stitching is woven into the fabric. The breathability is better than the standard or solid fleece and that is the main selling point. A grid fleece is also less bulky vs. a standard fleece, too.
What is Polartec Power Grid?
Polartec® Power Grid™ is the evolution of fleece fabric engineering. Our patented grid construction knit strengthens performance efficiency by increasing warmth and breathability, while also reducing fabric mass. These geometric patterns improve compressibility, wicking, and add technical style.
What is Polartec Power Dry?
Polartec® Power Dry® is the most advanced next-to-skin moisture management fabric. By using our proprietary bi-component knit construction, every fiber works with maximum efficiency. Moisture is quickly pulled away from the body and transferred to the outer surface for faster evaporation during activity.
Why is grid fleece so warm?
The grid pattern creates mechanical wicking, which is when moisture is drawn away from your body through the lower surface area of the grid to the larger surface area of the smooth face fabric. Because this pulls moisture away from your body, it makes the grid fleece feel warmer and enables the garment to dry quicker.
What is the difference between wool and fleece?
Synthetic fleece, which is simply called “fleece,” is a material made from polyester (usually) and its name is inspired by the natural textile it mimics. The difference between fleece and wool, generally, is that wool is a natural fabric that comes from animals and fleece is a man-made material.
What is a Polartec fleece?
Polartec fleece is a soft sythetic fabric made from polyester fibres that provides warmth without weight and is hydrophobic (absorbs less than 1% of water), making it ideal for use in the outdoors. It can be made from recycled polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles, and recycled fleece.
Is Polartec Power Dry warm?
Powerdry did a good job of keeping the kids comfortable when it was damp. The inside felt damp and the outside felt wet after taking them off. Powerdry is pretty thin and not too warm. Sitting or kneeling in wet snow was cold.
What is Polartec made of?
Polartec® fleece is primarily made of post-consumer recycled polyester from recycled water bottles.
What is the warmest type of fleece?
Heavyweight fleece is the least flexible of fleeces, but also the warmest and most insulating.
Should a fleece be tight or loose?
A fleece used as a mid-layer, should be relatively snug fitted to maximise heat and breathability.
