Once a year, tens of thousands of people gather in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert to create Black Rock City, a temporary metropolis dedicated to community, art, self-expression, and self-reliance. In this crucible of creativity, all are welcome. We are excited to build Black Rock City with you in 2022!
Is there a place called Black Rock?
The Black Rock Desert region is in northwestern Nevada and the northwestern Great Basin. The playa extends for approximately 100 mi (160 km) northeast from the towns of Gerlach and Empire, between the Jackson Mountains to the east and the Calico Hills to the west.
Will there be a Burning Man 2021?
Officially, Burning Man 2021 takes place in an alternate reality. The VR version of Black Rock City, which I reviewed last year, is returning with several neat upgrades — including museums dedicated to the event’s nondenominational Temple and its eponymous Man, along with live musical performances via virtual hologram.

Can you take a shower at Burning Man?
Toilets and showers at Burning Man Oh yeah, and there are no showers in Burning Man, only communal toilets to use. If you need to shower, rent an RV but trust me, you’ll be covered in dust again in minutes.
Can you leave Burning Man and come back?
You can leave Black Rock City and return, but there is a charge of $20 per person to re-enter the city. You MUST have your ticket stub for re-entry and notify the Gate staff as you leave that you plan to return. You will be issued a wristband as you exit that you must wear for your return.
Does Burning Man cost money?
Burning Man is a free community inside — instead of booking entertainment, it encourages participants to perform for the community free of charge. It also doesn’t sell goods. But the cost of attending Burning Man can come to thousands of dollars between tickets, transportation, accommodations, supplies, and costumes.
