Is ULTEM the same as PEI?
Is ULTEM the same as PEI?
ULTEM™ PolyEtherImide (PEI) is an amber transparent high-performance polymer which combines high strength and rigidity at elevated temperatures with long term heat resistance. ULTEM™ is available in unfilled and filled grades in sheet, rod, tube, film and injection molded and machined parts.
Can ULTEM be colored?
ULTEM resins are available in transparent and opaque custom colors, as well as glass filled grades.
Can you mold ULTEM?
This premium quality plastic material is resistant to hot water and steam and can withstand repeated cycles in a steam autoclave. Ultem™ molding is a less expensive alternative to high-end PEEK plastic material. Ultem™ is a highly-effective injection molding plastic.
Is ULTEM stronger than Delrin?
ULTEM PEI also outperforms both Nylon and DELRIN with the highest dielectric properties of thermoplastic materials. While ULTEM is relatively chemical resistant relative to lower end amorphous polymers, you will need to carefully assess the chemical compatibility for the application.
Is ULTEM toxic?
Dermal Toxicity / Irritation: Ultem resins have no demonstrable acute dermal toxicity. Eye Irritation: Ultem resin, in the form normally sold or used, is not a primary eye irritant. Fume Inhalation: Processing fumes from typical Ultem resins are not considered toxic.
Is ULTEM brittle?
While Ultem® is also resistant to a broad spectrum of chemicals, its brittle nature makes it more prone to environmental stress cracking.
What is the melting point of ULTEM?
Ultem 1000 (Polyetherimide)

What is the difference between Ultem 1010 and Ultem 9085?
ULTEM 1010 is actually the strongest material available in the FDM materials family. Looking at tensile strength rating in the XZ orientation, ULTEM 1010 carries a rating of 9,300 psi while ULTEM 9085 is only 6,800 psi.
