Is Wild swimming legal?
Access to enter the water over private land is allowed on a public footpath or highway. Elsewhere it is sometimes tolerated and a well established custom. However, it is technically trespass, which is a civil offence.

Sadly, although Crafnant was gifted very kindly to the people of Llanrwst town…we are not allowed to paddle upon it. There needs to be a critical mass to contest this. Also others who enjoy wild swimming locally have suggested a mass-swim.

The trunks or swimming costume you’d normally wear in your local swimming pool is all that’s required to wear under your wetsuit. And if you are training for an open water swim, that’s all you’ll need for the rest of the season. However, there is one exception – we wouldn’t recommend wearing boardshorts.
