A probate is a new member presentation where the newest members present history, reveal who they are and often step or stroll. It is an exciting time for the Greek community when new members join.

How long do sorority probates last?
To an observer, a probate may seem like a fun event that lasts only 20 or 30 minutes at the most. For those new members probating, however, it feels like a much longer event filled with a unique swell of emotions. Probate, like any well-executed production, requires hours upon hours of practice.
What is a Prophyte?
Prophyte: An older member of an NPHC or cultural-based organization. A neophyte becomes a prophyte after one year or when another line is initiated.
How big are Greek houses?
Fraternity and sorority houses range in size from three to twenty bedrooms or more. They can usually be identified by large Greek letters or flags on the front of the house. The larger houses generally have a large meeting room and/or dining room, commercial kitchen and study room.
How much is it to be in a sorority at URI?
There are upfront financial costs ranging from $500-$2000, minimum GPA requirements and a minimum number of members needed for most groups to start a new chapter.
