If you like calm fine days with light winds Margaret River is best in Autumn (March-May) which is less windy than Spring. However you may prefer visiting in Spring if you want to enjoy whale watching from the beautiful coastline or to see the wildflowers which carpet the Cape to Cape Track in mid-late Spring.
How many days should you spend in Margaret River?
If possible, we highly recommend a minimum stay of 3 nights. This allows you time to visit both north and south. Of course, there is never enough time to see everything. Margaret River town itself makes a great base with fantastic restaurants and cafes and our guest house is just a 2-minute walk from the main street.
Is it better to stay in Margaret River or Dunsborough?
If staying in a town I’d recommend Margaret River in preference to Dunsborough… although Dunsborough has some lovely apartments and houses on the beachfront if that appeals. Can get quite pricey though. Very quiet location yet only a 1 min stroll to the main street.
