Who can live on Ford Island?

The island is part of the Pearl Harbor Naval Complex. Access to the main island of Oahu is via the Admiral Clarey Bridge, completed in 1998. Ford Island is designated for Junior Officers (O1-O3) and Field Grade Officers (O4-O6).

Why is it called Ford Island?

Can retired military access Ford Island?

Access to Ford Island is controlled at the entry control point on the Ford Island Bridge. Under normal THREATCON, personnel with a valid DoD sticker and DoD identification will be allowed access onto Ford Island. ID cards of military members from allied nations are honored for base access purposes.

Can civilians enter Ford Island?

The USS Oklahoma Memorial and USS Utah Memorial are both located on Ford Island. Access is currently limited to visitors who have military base access. The Pearl Harbor National Memorial is the portal for all visitors to Pearl Harbor.

Can civilians drive on Ford Island?

Only authorized drivers and vehicles are allowed to drive across the Admiral Clarey Bridge to Ford Island where those sites are located. Unless you have military ID and authorization, you will not be able to drive yourself there.
