The Swim England Learn to Swim Framework is about developing confident and competent swimmers through fun and enjoyment, and Learn to Swim Stages 1-7 are at the heart of the Swim England Learn to Swim Programme.
What stage should an 8 year old swim?
Level 2 – usually 4 – 8 yrs old Swim across a 15 ft. pool independently with face in the water.

5 years: Child is capable of swimming freestyle with side breathing and backstroke for 30 feet. 6 years: Child is capable of swimming a 100-yard individual medley (25 yards of each stroke: butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, and freestyle) competently.
What is Stage 5 of the ASA learn to swim framework?
In Stage 5 of the ASA Learn to Swim Framework, your swimmers will focus on swimming all four strokes to the ASA expected standards. Swimmers will also develop skills in sculling, treading water and complete rotation.
How does the learn to swim framework work?

Can I continue swimming after completing the learn to swim programme?
Opportunities to continue swimming should be available to all swimmers who complete the Learn to Swim Programme. Activities may include joining a club in Swimming, Water Polo, Diving or Synchronised Swimming, or completing the Rookie Lifesaving course. There are also recreational swimming opportunities and other water based sports.
What are the awards for learn to swim stages?
Each Learn to Swim Stage will have a number of complementary Awards which recognise that a child has completed a particular skill within the whole Stage. These are great motivators for children who may get stuck on a particular Stage, ask the swimming teacher about these.
