What is Knauf Aquapanel?

Knauf AQUAPANEL® Cement Board Indoor is a tough impact and water resistant glass fibre reinforced cement tile backer board for walls. It is a lightweight board that is easy to install and suitable for use in indoor wet and humid areas, resisting the development of mould and mildew.

Which side of Knauf Aquapanel do you tile?

Can Aquapanel be fixed directly to a wall?

Can you tile on Knauf Aquapanel?

AQUAPANEL® Cement Board Indoor is appropriate for tiling but if the tile size is bigger we recommend using an additional decoupling system (e.g. Mapei, PCI or Schlьter). Note: Where single-layer panels are required in tiling applications, AQUAPANEL® Cement Board Indoor is the best tile backing board!

Can you dot and dab Knauf Aquapanel?

Knauf AQUAPANEL® Cement Board Indoor can also be applied direct to a masonry substrate using a dot and dab method.

Is Aqua board waterproof?

Aqua board is a water resistant plasterboard for kitchens, bathrooms and shower rooms and is also suitable for extremely humid environments such as swimming pools and health spas. It can be painted or directly tiled.

Do you need to waterproof Aquapanel?

WHEN USING AQUAPANEL IN SHOWERS, WET ROOMS OR STEAM ROOMS YOU HAVE TO SEAL THE JOINTS WITH A WATERPROOF JOINTING TAPE. I USE AND HAVE ONLY EVER USED “WEDI” TAPE. IT IS USED WITH WEDI BOARD USUALLY IN WET ROOMS etc.

Do you plaster over Aquapanel?

Aqua panel is not designed to go on ceilings and should not be plastered.It is designed for shower walls and should be tiled.

Can I use 6mm Aquapanel on walls?

Aquapanel Thermal is a completely different product to Aquapanel cement board and should not be used on wall areas.

Can you paint Knauf Aquapanel?

The Knauf AQUAPANEL® Cement Board Outdoor, once taped and jointed, may be left exposed for up to 6 months before a render basecoat and reinforcing mesh must be applied as aminimum – this cannot be left un-rendered indefinitely and is not suitable for direct painting.

What is the best backer board for showers?
