What is ICF structure?
What is ICF structure?
ICF stands for Insulated Concrete Forms. Insulated Concrete Forms (ICF) are hollow foam blocks that are stacked into the shape of the exterior walls of a building, reinforced with steel rebar, and then filled with concrete.
What are the dimensions of ICF forms?
General Specifications
Product | LiteForm ICF |
---|---|
Overall Dimension | 16″ x 48″ |
Form Wall Thickness, per side | 2.5 inches |
Number of Ties | 6 |
Attachment Rails | Continuous |
How do you calculate ICF walls?
How to find the number of forms needed:
- 1) Multiply the height of the wall (in feet), by the length of the wall (in feet).
- 2) Subtract the area, in sq. ft, of all window and door openings.
- 3) Divide the number of square feet by 5.33sq. ft. to determining the number of Standard ICFs needed.
How thick do ICF walls need to be?
ICF walls come in 4”, 6”, 8”, 10” and 12” thickness (some manufacturers go even thicker). Generally, 4” walls are only used for non-loadbearing applications such as demising walls in apartments, hotels or dormitories.
What is ICF design?
ICFs are simply a structural concrete wall, already insulated with furring attachment points in place every 6-inches horizontally. The prescriptive method of design is based on ACI-318 for slender wall concrete.
What is an ICF panel?
Insulated concrete forms (ICF) and structural insulated panels (SIPs) are two common wall systems used to construct commercial buildings and homes. Both wall systems combine structure and insulation into one unit, which quickens construction and reduces labor costs.
What is the size of ICF blocks?

How wide are ICF walls?
Logix ICF foam panels are each 2.75” thick for a total of 5.5” of EPS (or GPS) foam insulation in a Logix ICF wall.
What is the R value of ICF walls?
ICF walls consist of a center cavity to contain concrete between two layers of EPS which provide two continuous layers of insulation rated at R-22 and higher.
How much rebar do I need for ICF?
This can be tied with wire or locked together by a holder such as the web fingers in an ICF. When calculating the appropriate amount of overlap for connecting rebar, multiply the rebar diameter by 40. For example if you’re using number 5 rebar, you’ll take 5/8th or . 625 and multiply it by 40.
What is the R value of ICF?
Does ICF need Vapour barrier?
ICFs typically do not need a whole wall air barrier, as the concrete core serves as a very effective air barrier.
