Septone Body Deadener is a waterproof, anti-corrosive, noise suppressing black bituminous compound designed for application to the undercarriages of motor vehicles. Body Deadener can also be used as a coating for iron roofs, fibre roofs, inside guttering, downpipes, water tank exteriors and on metal structures.
Can you paint over Kilmat?
Yes – with proper/simple prep, (deglosser) DynaMat or similar can be painted over. I did exactly what you are planning to do in the trunk of my 73 Javelin/AMX, and it looked great, and held up well.
Can you thin body Deadener?
If required, Motospray Sound Deadener can be thinned up to 10% with Motospray Enamel Thinner E250 or Mineral Turps. Stir well. Apply 1-3 coats with stiff bristled brush.

There are sound deadening spray options that come in an aerosol can, but we can’t recommend those for the same reason we don’t recommend asphalt mat products.
