What is blood choking?

Blood choke Blood chokes (or carotid restraints / sleeper holds) are a form of strangulation that compress one or both carotid arteries and/or the jugular veins without compressing the airway, hence causing cerebral ischemia and a temporary hypoxic condition in the brain.

Can you breath in a blood choke?

And the point there is to press down on the arteries leading to brain, briefly cutting off the flow of blood to your brain and causing the person to pass out for a few seconds – long enough for a police officer to cuff that person.

Is blood choke allowed in MMA?

No. There are both blood chokes and air chokes. Blood chokes such as the rear naked choke, guillotine, and d’arce choke have simply proved more effective in mma than air chokes like the north south choke.
