What is an Ssma connector?
What is an Ssma connector?
SSMA Connectors are 50 Ohm screw-on connectors that operate from DC to 35 GHz (Extendable up to 40 GHz). Introduced in 1960, SSMA connectors are a miniature version of SMA connectors with 10-36 threaded coupling. These connectors are standardized by CECC 22 160, MIL-PRF-39012 and MIL-STD-348 specifications.
Are there different size SMA connectors?
The SMA connector comes in a variety formats, male, female, straight, right-angled, bulkhead fitting and many more enabling it to meet most requirements. Its sub-miniature size also enables it to be used, even within relatively small items of electronic equipment.
Are SMA and F connectors the same?
The SMA connector(SubMiniature version A) is a 50 ohm coaxial connector. It is visually similar to an F type connector that is commonly used for audio/video communication, but has different dimensions, mechanical properties and is used for different applications such as RF communications up to 18 GHz.
Are there different types of SMA connectors?
SMA Connectors have a number of different mounting configurations. The key mounting configurations include: Panel Mount (2-Hole and 4 Hold Flange) SMA Connectors, PCB Mount SMA Connectors, Edge Mount, Bulkhead Mount SMA Connectors, SMT SMA Connectors and Through Hole Mount.
What size is an SMA connector?
1⁄4 inch
Connector design The SMA connector employs a 1⁄4 inch diameter, 36-thread-per-inch threaded barrel. The male is equipped with a hex nut measuring 5⁄16 inch (0.3125 inch / 7.9 mm) across opposite flats, thus taking the same wrench as a #6 SAE hex nut.
Is SMA compatible with 3.5 mm?
The SMA connector is mechanically compatible with two other connector types: 3.5- and 2.92-mm connectors. Both of these employ an air dielectric and can perform at higher frequencies than their SMA counterpart.
How many MM is a SMA connector?
The outer diameter of a SMA Connector is about 4.13 mm (0.163 in) and the outer diameter of the of the other two connectors are 3.5 mm and 2.92 mm (IEEE-std-287 defines the connector interface names based on their outer diameter).
What is difference between RP-SMA and SMA?
SMA stands for Sub-Miniature Version A. These are coaxial RF connectors developed in the 1960s. RP-SMA stands for Reverse Polarity SMA). It is a variation of the SMA connector which reverses the gender of the interface….Differences of RP-SMA and SMA Antenna Connectors.

Can you connect RP-SMA to SMA?
Reverse polarity SMA (RP-SMA or RSMA) is designed to be incompatible with standard SMA connectors to comply with U.S. FCC regulations which seek to prevent consumers from attaching non-standard aerials to wireless devices.
