What is INFI steel?
INFI is a proprietary steel/heat treat and is exclusively produced by Busse. Apparently there have been at least two iterations of INFI with the later version using Nitrogen as a hardening element in conjuction with a reduced amount of carbon. Here is the steel composition chart.
Are Busse knives worth it?
Only the insane toughness and the truly unique look of these knives makes them even mildly palatable for the most dedicated collectors. Don’t fool yourself—buying a Busse is never necessary. They are the most specialized of specialized tools and even then a good camp knife and hatchet would probably serve you better.

Does 3V rust?
Corrosion Resistance – CPM 3V steel is not stainless steel, it will oxidize if not properly cared for. Even with proper care, discoloration or oxidation can be expected over time.
Why does esee use 1095?
1095 is used in many “survival” knives because it is a tough steel that is super easy to sharpen/strop in the field. The coating on the Esee is really good and will help protect it from the elements. If you use the knife, you’ll knock and rust off the blade.
