What does Humate-P do?
What does Humate-P do?
Antihemophilic Factor/von Willebrand Factor Complex (Human), HUMATE-P® is approved to treat and prevent bleeding in adult patients with hemophilia A (classical hemophilia).
Is Humate-P safe?
HUMATE-P is made from human blood and could contain infectious agents. The risk that these agents may transmit disease cannot be completely eliminated, but has been reduced by screening plasma donors and testing donated plasma for certain viruses, and by inactivating and/or removing viruses during manufacturing.
How is Humate-P dosed?
Dosing Overview. HUMATE-P is labeled in VWF:RCo for dosing accuracy in VWD: Treatment of bleeding episodes: Administer 40–80 IU VWF:RCo per kg body weight every 8–12 hours.
How long does Humate-P last?
Before reconstitution, HUMATE-P can be safely stored at room temperature (25°C [77°F]) for up to 36 months. (After reconstitution, HUMATE-P should be used within 3 hours.)
How does desmopressin work in hemophilia?
Desmopressin (DDAVP®) is used to help stop bleeding in patients with von Willebrand’s disease or mild hemophilia A. DDAVP causes the release of von Willebrand’s antigen from the platelets and the cells that line the blood vessels where it is stored. Von Willebrand’s antigen is the protein that carries factor VIII.
What is in humic acid?
Humic acid is derived from leonardite shale and is among the most concentrated organic material available. Elemental analysis of humic acid has shown it to consist largely of carbon and oxygen (about 50% and 40% respectively).
How is Alphanate administered?
Administration of ALPHANATE Reconstituted ALPHANATE may be stored at room temperature (not to exceed 30°C) prior to administration, but must be administered intravenously within 3 hours. Discard unused contents into the appropriate safety container. ALPHANATE should not be administered at a rate exceeding 10 mL/min.
How does desmopressin stop bleeding?
DDAVP causes the release of von Willebrand’s antigen from the platelets and the cells that line the blood vessels where it is stored. Von Willebrand’s antigen is the protein that carries factor VIII. This increase in von Willebrand’s antigen and factor VIII helps to stop bleeding.
Why is desmopressin given?
Desmopressin is used to control the symptoms of a certain type of diabetes insipidus (‘water diabetes’; condition in which the body produces an abnormally large amount of urine).
What does humic acid do for humans?
