Should a radiator fan push or pull air?

Use an electric fan. Preference should be given to a “pull” vs. a “push” fan. Mounted on the engine side of the radiator, a pull fan does not interfere with airflow at highway speeds. All shrouded fans should be on the engine side of the radiator.

What is the rotation of radiator fan?

If you are in the vehicle looking at the motor, standard rotation would appear as counter-clockwise. Or if standing at the front of the vehicle the fan would be moving clockwise.

When should the radiator fan turn on?

about 200 degrees Fahrenheit
Your radiator fan should kick in at about 200 degrees Fahrenheit. If you notice your vehicle is overheating or at the very least running hotter than it normally does, listen for the fan to see if you can hear it.

Why is the fan located behind the radiator?

The fans which are found in the rear or at the back are referred to as “puller fans”. They serve to pull the air from the grille. It then draws the air over the radiator.

Which way should my radiator fans face?

Front Mount / Tubes Down With the tubes facing downward, the air will accumulate on the top of the radiator, which means it will not affect the water pump.

Should both radiator fans be on?

Both fans should come on when the A/C is on. If one or both fans fail to come on, the lack of additional cooling provided by the fan may cause poor A/C cooling performance, and it may cause the A/C compressor to overheat and fail. The engine may also run hot and overheat, too.

Should radiator fan run all time?

Even with the cooling fans running all of the time, the engine thermostat should force the engine to warm up at a normal speed. The thermostat will regulate the coolant to the radiator/fans if it is working properly. It can be normal for the cooling fans to run constantly under certain conditions.

How do I know if my fans are backwards?

There should be an arrow on at least one out side edge of your fan indicating airflow… should be at least. Find this arrow if you can because fans still blow some air the opposite direction near the edges sometimes though most air goes the other direction in my experience.
