No, the NSLS is not a scam. We are a legitimate, accredited, and esteemed leadership honor society that is nationally recognized. We have over 700 chapters and over 1.5 million members at universities nationwide.

A program under Student Life, the NSLS is the nation’s largest leadership honor society with more than 700 chapters and over 1.2 million members. Membership into this prestigious honor society is by invitation only. The program targets students who have at minimum six completed credit hours and at least a 2.75 GPA.
What GPA do you need for the National Society of Leadership and Success?

Undergraduate students need at least 36 completed credit hours AND a GPA of at least 3.0 be invited. Graduate students needs at least 18 completed credit hours AND a GPA of at least 3.5 to be invited. Only those credit hours completed at NLU are considered for invitation purposes, transfer credits do not apply.

You Must be Invited Unlike many associations, the NSLS membership will require an invitation from your local chapter. The leaders of your local chapter typically determine the nomination criteria. In most cases, these leaders will consider your GPA and leadership potentials.
Who gets nominated for NSLS?
WHY WAS I INVITED TO JOIN THE NSLS? Nomination criteria is determined by local Chapter Leaders and is based on GPA and/or leadership potential. Students invited to their school’s chapter have earned distinction with their nomination but must complete the leadership program requirements to become inducted.

How many students get invited to NSLS?
The NSLS maintains university-established criteria that best serves to recognize a distinguished group of their students. Nationally, less than 20% of the campus population at our 700+ colleges and universities receive an invitation, while ACHS honor society standards include 20-35% of campus populations.
Can you be kicked out of NSLS?
Termination of Membership or Website Use: You may terminate your membership at any time, for any reason, by tendering written notice to the NSLS. NSLS may terminate your membership at any time, for any or no reason, with or without prior notice or explanation, and without liability.
