Is Oak National Academy a real school?
Oak National Academy was created in April 2020 as a rapid response to the coronavirus outbreak. Teachers and colleagues from leading education organisations came together to support schools’ efforts to keep children learning.
How long will Oak Academy be available?
Oak National Academy has revealed that the Department for Education has agreed that its lessons will remain free to use as part of any long-term deal over its future operation.
Who funds Oak Academy?
On Tuesday 23 June, the government announced that Oak National Academy would be given £4.3 million funding to provide lessons for pupils for the 2020/21 academic year as a contingency plan for the continuing pandemic. Teachers will be recording lessons over summer 2020 and will be reimbursed for their time.
Is the Oak Academy free?
Oak National Academy provides free video lessons, slides and worksheets to support teachers and pupils to keep learning. Created by teachers in response to coronavirus, the resources are freely available, to complement schools’ own teaching. Lessons cover a broad range of subjects, from reception to year 11.
