How do you wash a flexfit hat without ruining it?

If you find you simply must wash your hat, gentle hand-washing in cool or cold water is best. Use a mild, liquid detergent or a dedicated stain-fighting treatment like OxiClean. DO NOT use any product containing bleach. If you have areas that are particularly problematic, try spot cleaning with an old toothbrush first.

How tight should a flexfit hat be?

Your hat should go through the middle of your forehead and sit nicely above your ears, which is why you measured at that precise location. Part of the beauty of this hat is the fact that it should never feel tight, but always fit snugly.

Are flexfit hats comfortable?

Is it OK to wash hats in the washing machine?

The high heat and harsh, bleach-based dish detergents can damage fibers and remove color, so it’s not recommended. Avoid the washing machine. It’s possible to wash a hat using the delicates/gentle cycle, but you still run the risk of the hat losing its structured shape due to the washer’s agitation.

Should a baseball cap touch your ears?

A well-fitting baseball cap should sit comfortably above your ears with the bill resting in the middle of your forehead. The crown of the baseball cap should top your head, leaving a little space between your head and the cap.

In 1954 the fitted hat was redesigned and named the 59Fifty, a.k.a. the ‘Brooklyn Style’ cap. Cloth sweatbands were also introduced at this time (leather sweatbands would be slowly phased out until the end of the 1980s). By the year 1965, New Era was supplying caps for ten Major League Baseball teams.
