Is El Questro worth visiting?
Absolutely. If you could only visit one place along the Gibb River Road, this would be it. We did all of the ‘main’ attractions along the Gibb River Road, and El Questro was one of our favourites. As long as you go in with the right idea of what to expect, you’ll have an amazing time.

Is the Gibb River Road worth it?
The Gibb River Road is definitely worth it and three nights give you a chance to have a good look at the western side. You could spend a night at Windjana Gorge so you can check out that and Tunnel Creek, and then go up to Bell Gorge. Lennard Gorge is on the way.
Do you need a snorkel for El Questro?
Set your alarm with plenty of time to get to the start of the El Questro Gorge hike at sunrise. There is a creek crossing to navigate on the drive in and a snorkel is advised. The hike is a challenging 6.8 km return. It involves climbing over rocks, scaling a couple of waterfalls and getting your feet wet.

Are there crocodiles on the Gibb River Road?
You will see crocodiles in the wild, both fresh and saltwater. Never assume any waterhole or river is safe to swim in unless advised that it is safe to do so by local authorities.
Do you need a snorkel for the Gibb River Road?
You won’t need a snorkel for river crossings on the Gibb River Road that time of year, but if it’s very dry your air filter would not get quite as dusty if you had one.
How long is the El Questro Gorge Walk?
3 to 5 hours
El Questro Gorge 7.2 km – 3 to 5 hours: One of the more challenging walks on the station but also one of the most fun. This is a very narrow gorge with steep rock walls. El Questro gorge is a good one to do later in the day as it is relatively shady the whole way.
What should I wear to El Questro?
Relaxed, casual clothing, suitable for exploring. Make sure you bring a sturdy pair of hiking boots or suitable walking shoes to wear on the many walks available. Light, loose clothing is recommended for longer treks and fishing. You will also need trousers and enclosed shoes or boots if you’re going horse riding.
