Do wicks need to be pre-waxed?

Unlike loose (unwaxed) wick, pre-waxing will keep the wick upright and maintain fuel delivery and consistent tension throughout the burn. If you wax wicks at home, the results will most likely be less effective and will have more variation. Variation is the enemy of every serious candle maker!
