The military movers don’t want you packing anything. Leave the pictures on the wall and the t.v. on its stand. If you’re doing an HHG move, the entire process is done by a government-contracted company known as a Transportation Service Provider (TSP).
What does a PCS move pay for?
The TLA is for OCONUS, or overseas PCS moves. Up to 60 days (can be extended) may be paid for temporary lodging expenses and meal expenses after a military member (and his/her family) arrive at a new overseas location, while awaiting housing.

You are authorized transportation from the airport/train station to and from your old and new permanent stations. If this is not provided, you will be reimbursed (as always – save your receipts).

Don’t pack food that is in glass jars or perishable for a PCS move. They may crack, leak or mold before arrival, so you leave them off your PCS packing list. Non-perishables like boxed or canned items, dried fruits or spices usually transport well. Keep valuables with you at all times.
