Can you go in Ashridge House?
The whole estate is open for visitors and there is no booking required to visit Ashridge. The visitor centre, shop and toilets are open daily from 10am-5pm.

Today, Ashridge is home to Hult International Business School’s Ashridge Executive Education program, as it has been since 1959. The estate is currently owned by the National Trust.
Can you walk around Ashridge House gardens?
There are loads of walks that you can do from Ashridge House and gardens. There’s Golden Valley (you can find a walking route here), Prince’s Riding and of course the Ashridge Estate as well. The Forester’s walk comes close to the house.
Do you have to pay at Ashridge?
Vehicles can be collected from just outside the Visitor Centre and can be borrowed for up to an hour, weather permitting. There is no charge, but we rely on donations to keep this service running. We advise booking in advance, please call the Visitor Centre on 01442 851227 to book a slot.
How many bedrooms does Ashridge House have?
Ashridge House has a total of 190 ensuite bedrooms available to book; 179 are within modern accommodation blocks to the rear of the estate and the remaining 11 are self-contained studios called Brownlow Lodges. Complementary WiFi is available throughout every building.

Ashridge is a popular place to walk your dog. We have visitors of all kinds here: some on foot, some on wheels, and some on horseback, so we ask those of you bringing your dogs to follow our guidance and help us keep Ashridge special for everyone.

Ashridge is used a hospital during WWII. The concrete overspill wards remain Crown property until 1983 for use as a Public Records Office.

13th century
Originally built as a monastery in the 13th century, this great house near Berkhamsted has a long history with several royal associations. The present Ashridge House and gardens were completed in 1814 by the Earl of Bridgewater.
Are the bluebells out yet in Ashridge?
The plants will start to flower in mid-April and are normally at their best during the last week of April and first week of May.

Parking is Free. Parking address: Moneybury Hill, Ringshall, Berkhamsted HP4 1LT. The Ashridge Estate has a very long drive (maybe 300-400 metres?) leading up to its monument and Visitor Centre area.

This is usually from mid-April until mid-May but will vary slightly depending on how cold and damp the late winter and early spring has been. The first bluebells are usually seen in the far south of the country and then the blooms will spread north in a fragrant wave.
