Are Fox and RockShox bushings the same?
Are Fox and RockShox bushings the same?
Fox hardware uses the poly IGUS bushing, but much older Fox hardware uses a steel bushing. RockShox hardware is about the same, but just uses one spacer with an integrated o-ring on each side, and a metal DU bushing.
Are Fox and RockShox eyelets the same size?
The size of that eyelet is standard across mostly all modern shocks including Fox, RockShox, Marzocchi, DVO, and more. This means mounting hardware is 100% cross compatible between all of these shocks.
Can you use RockShox mounting hardware on Fox?
Thankfully, Rockshox and Fox mounting hardware are cross compatible, but there’s a few differences that need to be noted before you simply purchase Fox hardware for a Rockshox shock.
How are bushings sized?
The length of the bushing is measured from the underside of the head to the exit end of the bushing. Figure 10-3. Recommended hole sizes for press-fit bushings in unhardened steel or cast iron jig plates. Figure 10-4.
Can you replace shock bushings?
Often made from steel with a nylon / PTFE coating, the bushings inside the eyelets of your rear shock are designed to wear over time, and thus – they are an easily replaceable part with the right tools and a little care.
Can I reuse shock mounting hardware?
This also means that if you are replacing your stock Fox Shock (like a DPX2) Marzocchi Bomber CR, you can totally just reuse your old hardware as long as it’s not damaged!
How do you measure a Fox shock?
The most accurate method for shock measurement:
- Measure the eye to eye length.
- Attach a shock pump and slowly remove all the air from the shock.
- Compress the shock fully and measure the eye to eye length again.
- Subtract this measurement from the initial eye to eye length to find the usable stroke. (ie. 185 – 132.5 = 52.5)
How long should bushings be?
As a general rule, bushings should be only long enough to guide and support the cutting tool properly. As shown in Figure 10-51, the thickness of the jig plate should generally be one to two times the tool diameter.
How do you get shocking bushings?
Lubricate the new bushings, spacers, bearings on the shock absorber with the grease supplied in the kit, or any other consistent grease. Install new bushings in shock absorber. Install thrust bushing. Install shock absorber in the car.
