Can you stop the execution of Roggvir?

So as you may all know, when you first enter Solitude a man named Roggvir gets executed. There is no way to stop it. If you kill the executioners, he’ll die anyway from the guards. But the Stormcloak quest doesn’t involve you to visit Solitude ever.

Is there a way to save the guy in Solitude?

So, yes you can “save” him, and no it doesn’t change anything, he’s essentually a useless NPC, with no dialogue, who everyone talks about as if he’s dead, despite him grinding away all day, and will disappear if you talk to him.

Where is Roggvir’s body?

If you started the quest within three days after entering Solitude, Roggvir’s headless body will still lie behind the chopping block where he met his demise. If not, his body will be inside the Solitude Catacombs behind the Hall of the Dead.

What happens if you try to save Roggvir?

Attacking Roggvir before he is killed will cause the guards to become hostile, but will accrue no bounty. If saved, Roggvir will sometimes go to the grindstone near his planned execution site and work on a sword. He will not leave the grindstone unless the Dragonborn attempts to use it.
