THE MODULE 1 TEST (MOD 1) Module 1 is a test of your machine control and is conducted at an off-road site called a ‘motorcycle manoeuvre area’ or MMA for short.
What is included in MOD 1 test?
You’ll take the module 1 test in an off-road motorcycle manoeuvring area. The test normally takes about 20 minutes and includes: wheeling the moped or motorcycle and using the stand. riding a slalom and figure of 8.
What does MOD 2 consist of?
The module 2 test normally takes about 40 minutes and includes: an eyesight check. ‘show me, tell me’ vehicle safety questions. road riding.
How long does a Mod 1 last?
Just as a reminder for those of you who are following the progressive access route, even though your Module 1 Certificate is not linked to a theory test expiry date, the Module 1 Pass Certificate is only valid for 6 months from the date of completion.
How long does a Mod 2 test last?

The Mod 2 motorcycle test lasts between 40-55 minutes. What is this? It is essentially made up of 4 elements. The first two elements of the test you will get out of the way before you even sit on the motorcycle.
Do I need L plates after mod1?
You don’t need L-plates. You are restricted to 28mph. If you haven’t ridden before, we would strongly suggest that you still take a basic rider training course (Compulsory Basic Training – CBT). Anyone else must take a basic motorcycle training course called Compulsory Basic Training (CBT).
What size bike can I ride after Mod 1?
125cc bike
This route entitles you to an: AM licence (allowing you to ride a 50cc bike) if you are 16 or over. A1 licence (allowing you to ride a 125cc bike) if you are 17 or over. A2 licence (limiting you to a bike up to 35kw) if you are 19 and over.
How long is mod 2 training?

Your Module two test is an on-road module which usually takes about 40 minutes. It essentially shows an examiner that your riding skills have reached a level where you can ride consistently well, with confidence and without help or guidance.
What can you fail Mod 2 on?
Examples of faults riding too slow unnecessarily, holding up following traffic. riding well below the speed limit on clear roads. waiting for another road user to pass who has clearly given way to you.
Can I do my Mod 1 on my own bike?
Yes you can use your own bike for the test provided you have all the legal requirements in place (insurance, tax, MOT etc). However, as you won’t have a motorcycle licence at this stage, you would be resonsible for getting the machine to and from the DVSA test centre.
