If we are talking about how long an install will last, a full install of braid-in wool dreadlocks will typically last anywhere from 3 weeks to 2 months depending on the install method used!
How long do crochet faux locs last?
4 to 6 weeks
Typically synthetic crochet locs can last anywhere from 4 to 6 weeks. With our line of locs, we encourage our customers to reuse them. They look even better after your first install. So you can get multiple use out of it for re-installation.

Faux dreadlocks, also known as yarn falls, are typically made by attaching long strips of prepared yarn to an existing hair clip or elastic. Once dry, they’re either clipped into or woven into the hair, usually depending on how long the person wants to wear them.

If your newly installed wool dreadlocks are causing you to itch, it is completely normal. You can use many different products to help while your scalp adjusts to your new ‘do.
Can crochet faux locs get wet?
Yes, faux locs can get wet. You can swim, shampoo and work out just like you normally would. However, because of the volume of additional hair used to create this style, they could easily get very heavy.
What’s the difference between crochet locs and faux locs?
For faux locs you need to wrap the hair from the roots until the end of the hair. But for the crochet locs you will only need to wrap from the roots to where your natural hair ends. Wrapping the roots of your crochet locs to just where your hair ends means a quicker install than traditional faux locs.
How do you keep Faux locs from getting stiff?
USE HOT WATER IF YOUR FAUX LOCS ARE TOO STIFF: Sometimes when you immediately finish faux locs, they’re a bit stiff. To immediately soften your style, do a rinse (scalp and all) with hot water.
Can I dip my crochet faux locs in hot water?
Can faux locs be dipped in hot water like braids? Yes, for softening stiff and tight-feeling locs. Use hot, but not boiling water. For faux locs done with Kanekalon hair, dipping in hot water is more effective than faux locs wrapped with Marley hair.
