What is the torque for a pressure plate?

A small amount of threadlocking compound is recommended on all clutch fasteners. DO NOT use a washer with this pressure plate bolt. Tighten all bolts evenly, ¼ turn at a time in a crisscross pattern until pressure plate is completely drawn-up to the flywheel. Final torque to: 25 – 28 ft/lbs.

What’s the torque on a clutch bolt?

Bolt Torque Guide

Size TORQUE* (Ft. / Lbs) TORQUE* (NM)
5/16″ 28 38
3/8″ 50 68
7/16″ 80 108
1/2″ 125 170

Can you reuse clutch pressure plate bolts?

You may reuse them. Make sure they have the proper spring lock washers. You could use locktite but it is not necessary; if you use it, I’d use blue. It is the flywheel bolts you are not supposed to reuse (I used Red on them, why not with all that torque, (much) later they’ll come out no sweat.

What is the torque spec for flywheel bolts?

Small Block Chevy Torque Specs

Fastener Type Torque Spec
Harmonic Damper Bolt 60 ft.-lbs.
Flywheel/Flexplate Bolts 65 ft.-lbs.
Pressure Plate Bolts 35 ft.-lbs.
Bellhousing Bolts 25 ft.-lbs.

What is a pressure plate?

Definition of pressure plate : a plate in an automobile dry disk clutch that is pressed against the flywheel to transmit propulsion torque to the wheels.

Does the pressure plate bolt to the flywheel?

The flywheel has to fit within the bolt circle of the crank and match up to the pressure plate. It’s only one part of a system.

Are flywheel bolts torque to yield?

All of the documentation that I found indicated the flywheel bolts are torque to yield, and not reusable.

How is flywheel torque calculated?

Tfw = m*r^2/2/a

  1. Where Tfw is the Flywheel Torque (N-m)
  2. m is the flywheel mass (kg)
  3. r is the radius (m)
  4. a is the angular acceleration (rad/s^2)

What is the difference between clutch plate and pressure plate?

Clutch discs may also be described as friction discs. The clutch pressure plate is a spring-loaded metal plate that spins with the flywheel and applies pressure to clamp the clutch disc firmly between itself and the flywheel.
