What are the various types of Adavus?
The Adavus can be classified under the following groups:
- Tattadavuà Syllables: Tai ya tai.
- Nattu Adavau -à Syllables: Ta tai tai ta and Taiyum tatta tayum taha.
- Kuditta Mettu Adavuà Syllables: Tai ha tai ha.
- Sarukkal Adavu à Syllables: Tai hath- dhit tai.
- Thirumana Adavuà Syllables: Tadhikinathom, Kitatakatai kitatom.
How many Adavus are there?

What is Nattadavu?
Naattadavus are the second variation in Adavus that involve stretching of the legs, striking of the feet, cross positions of the feet (swasthika), Muzhumandi positions, etc., Students learn 8 variations of Naattadavu in this course.

Aramandi or the demi plie position, is the essential posture of Bharatanātyam. It is also called Āyata in the text Abhinaya Darpanam. With the heels almost touching each other, the toes are opened out, sideways, so that a straight line is formed by the two feet.
