Sweethope Lough Sweethope Lakes are the headwater of the Wansbeck River, set amongst some of the best of Northumberland’s scenery. This lovely setting is ideal for open water swimming. There are lots of opportunities for both beginners and more experienced swimmers to get involved.

The use of Kielder Water runs from 1 April – 31 October. No boating after dark is permitted except with the express written consent of Northumbrian Water Limited. (Permission may only be given for military training, security or safety reasons).
