TWP is a penetrating system and is not designed to build a film. Only apply to properly prepared clean, dry and absorbent bare wood. TWP should dry uniformly flat with no glossy areas. Only apply when the temperature is 50-85°F.
How long does TWP Stain need to dry before rain?
It should not rain 12 hours after applying TWP. The stain may be able to take some rain earlier but it depends on wood porosity.
Does TWP Stain require two coats?
If one coat soaks in fairly quickly a second coat may be applied. A second “wet on wet” coat should be applied within 30 minutes of the first coat. Be cautions of over applying TWP Stain. If excess puddles of wet stain remain after a reasonable amount of time and or not being absorbed do not allow the stain to dry.

If it rains within 48 hours of applying a treatment, the water will soak into the wood, and try and displace the stain. This can cause a blotchy, flaky look, rather than a smooth, even, coat. If it rains immediately after you’ve stained the wood, the stain will peel and flake off.
