Why did Barbagallo Raceway change its name?
Previously known as Wanneroo Park Raceway and Wanneroo Raceway, the circuit’s name was changed to Barbagallo Raceway in 1992 when car dealer and privateer Touring Car racer Alf Barbagallo invested in the development of the ‘short circuit’ loop.
What happened to Oran Park Raceway?
The land on which the racetrack was located was sold to the Government of New South Wales for a new housing development. This led to the eventual closure of the track and ended 48 years of motorsport heritage at the facility. The last motorcycle race meeting, the BelRay 6 Hour, was held on 21–22 November 2009.

acquired a dormant jai alai permit in 2019 and secured a favorable ruling from an administrative law judge to transfer the Calder Casino to that permit from Thoroughbred racing. That doomed racing at Calder once the lease expired with Gulfstream Park. The final race was run at Calder in November 2020.
