Originally, the series was going to end at 3 seasons. However, after almost 2 years of encouragement from fans and critics alike, Disney has renewed The Lion Guard for the long-awaited 4th season that will not only end the series, but the The Lion King trilogy as a whole.

How old is Simba at the end?
A lion pregnancy only lasts 3-4 months, so depending on how quickly he and Nala got down to it, Simba has aged by that much at least since defeating Scar. Consequently, it would be reasonable to assume Simba is approximately 4 years old by the end of The Lion King, but could be a little older.

He was apparently born at some point during Scar’s reign, as Scar hand-picked him to be his successor, which annoyed Nuka. As a result, he was referred to by the Outsiders as the Chosen One. However, Scar merely mentored him, and Kovu is of no relation to Scar.

After doing some research, Christian learned that hyenas don’t tend to eat lions, as is often implied in the movie. Instead, he claims to have learned that just one animal tends to eat lions and that’s lions themselves. With that in mind, Christian suggests that Scar ate Mufasa after killing him.
