Why was the Reichsmark replaced?
Although ration coupons were used to allocate some goods, the amounts rationed were insufficient to meet daily needs, and consumers were forced to turn to black markets. After the war ended, the occupying powers replaced the Reichsmark and Rentenmark with a Military Mark.
