Are Steam visual novels censored?

Some VNs are banned from Steam because they contain content that either is illegal in certain countries or that Steam believes is illegal in certain countries. Sometimes games get banned because Steam bans a developer completely and it’s not about that individual game.

Here are a few places you can find free prepatched visual novels:

  • Eroge Downlod: has a fairly large library, and like the site name suggests, quite a lot of of H-Games specifically.
  • HDDGames: There are two seperate genre cetegories for Eroge and all-ages visual novels.

Can you download visual novels from VNDB?

Where can I download the Visual Novels? Not here. We do not provide any links to direct downloads, torrents or other means of downloading games. We do, however, link to the official homepages of the producers, who may provide free trials or even full game downloads.

Are visual novels read?

If it’s just text, it’s interactive fiction. If it’s just visuals, it’s more like an interactive comic. Typically, VNs also include some sort of choice mechanism and/or branching in the narrative; if you’re just clicking through a story with visual elements, you’re most likely reading a kinetic novel instead.
